GROWING UP:
Douglas Allen Mohns was born December 13, 1933 shortly after midnight on a cold ,wintry night in Capreol, Ontario, Canada . (Capreol is located some three hundred and fifty miles north of Toronto Ontario and was considered a "Divisional Point" for the Canadian National Railway System. It branched both east and west and ended it’s northern route there.) Doug was the youngest of Ella & Fred Mohns’ six children.

It has often been said that Doug was born with his skates on. By two years of age he was able to skate without any assistance.
